 BACKGROUND JULY. MORDOR'S TROLLS

Cualquier ejército de Mordor que se precie debe contar en su formación con al menos un par de Trolls, de lo contrario es muy posible que el enemigo no se desanime nunca y ponga las cosas muy difíciles. 

Es por ello que tanto Sauron como Saruman decidieron desde el principio del conflicto con el bando de la Luz, que todos sus ejércitos llevarían en sus filas al menos un par de Trolls, por muy pequeño que fuera el contingente, llegándose el caso de acumular hasta cientos en ciertas batallas específicas.

Originariamente fue Morgoth el que creó los Trolls, en su deseo de tener tropas capaces de enfrentarse a los Ents, creándolos tan grandes y fuertes como estos, de unos cuatro metros de altura. Y aunque parece que al principio no resistían bien la luz solar, fue Sauron el que los modificó con piedras y barro para hacerlos resistentes y poder usarlos durante el día.

Durante la época que nos concierne principalmente, los Trolls que usaba Sauron y Saruman para sus ejércitos eran Trolls de las Montañas de Gorgoroth, que fueron criados en distintos lugares para ser Trolls de Mordor, de Isengard, etc…

Fueron entrenados principalmente para odiar a los humanos, los elfos y los enanos, si bien había casos específicos en los que su entrenamiento derivaba en funciones determinadas, como los que empujaban al Grond, los que abrían las Puertas Negras de Morannon, otros que habían aprendido a aporrear un tambor, para cargar catapultas, etc…

En batalla son seres fenomenales, con una fuerza y una capacidad para atacar increíbles, y con una gran agilidad a pesar del peso y corpulencia que suelen tener. Son muchos más grandes e inteligentes que sus parientes de las Cavernas, y están adiestrados para manejar armas básicas como puede ser el lanzamiento a distancia de piedras, o usar porras, troncos de árbol, espadas, martillos gigantes, etc… sabiendo también defenderse con escudos gigantescos y muy pesados que manejan con soltura.

That is why both Sauron and Saruman decided from the beginning of the conflict with the side of Light that all their armies would carry at least a couple of Trolls in their ranks, no matter how small the contingent was, eventually accumulating up to hundreds in certain specific battles. 

Originally it was Morgoth who created the Trolls, in his desire to have troops capable of confronting the Ents, creating them as large and strong as these, about four meters high. And although it seems that at first they did not resist sunlight well, it was Sauron who modified them with stones and mud to make them resistant and able to use them during the day.  

During the era that mainly concerns us, the Trolls that Sauron and Saruman used for their armies were Trolls of the Mountains of Gorgoroth, who were raised in different places to be Trolls of Mordor, of Isengard, etc...  

They were mainly trained to hate humans, elves and dwarves, although there were specific cases in which their training led to certain functions, such as those who pushed the Grond, those who opened the Black Gates of Morannon, others who had learned to beat a drum, to load catapults, etc...  

In battle they are phenomenal beings, with incredible strength and ability to attack, and with great agility despite the weight and corpulence they usually have. They are much larger and more intelligent than their relatives from the Caves, and are trained to handle basic weapons such as throwing stones at a distance, or using clubs, tree trunks, swords, giant hammers, etc... also knowing how to defend themselves with shields. gigantic and very heavy that they handle with ease.

 

 

Bhargâsh es un Troll de las Cavernas que fue preparado para la pelea en el exterior hace muchísimo tiempo, y se labró una gran reputación por su violencia y su capacidad para acabar con enemigos, sin embargo, conforme su fama aumentaba también los intentos por parte de humanos y sobre todo enanos, de acabar con él. Es por ello que en varias ocasiones se temió por su vida tras algunas batallas en las que las huestes de Sauron salieron derrotadas, así perdió las cuatro extremidades en distintos momentos. Lejos de dejarlo a un lado los comandantes de la oscuridad decidieron curarlo y equiparlo con nuevas armas desconocidas para el enemigo, que se veía aterrado cuando aparecía una y otra vez, aún a sabiendas de que había caído en la anterior batalla, pero volvía, y ahora ataviado con pesadas mazas de metal en vez de manos, unidas con cadenas y listas para atacarlos. Ni siquiera la amputación de los pies lo dejó atrás y le fueron sustituidos por sendas bolas con pinchos gracias a los cuales un pateo por su parte era ahora mortal. Sin duda Bhargâsh ha sido uno de los Trolls más temidos y famosos de la Tierra Media durante mucho tiempo.

Far from putting him aside, the commanders of darkness decided to heal him and equip him with new weapons unknown to the enemy, who looked terrified when he appeared again and again, even knowing that he had fallen in the previous battle, but he returned, and now clad with heavy metal maces instead of hands, linked with chains and ready to attack them. Not even the amputation of his feet left him behind and they were replaced by spiked balls thanks to which a kick on his part was now fatal. Without a doubt Bhargâsh has been one of the most feared and famous Trolls in Middle Earth for a long time.

  

 

El caso de Unahi es diferente, es un Troll entrenado para recargar una Catapulta Orca, su trabajo consiste en recoger las piedras más grandes y colocarlas en el artefacto para que este las envíe al enemigo por los aires. Menos inteligente que por ejemplo Bhargâsh, Unahi sí que es más fuerte, capaz de levantar piedras de varias toneladas sin esfuerzo aparente, y el hecho de estar por lo general en la retaguardia de las batallas, hace que su existencia pueda ser más cómoda, lejos del peligro inminente que significa la primera línea.

Por último, está Mhër Ulho, un Troll de guerra entrenado para atacar, atacar y atacar.
