GAMEBOARD TABLE: CITY OF GOBLINS 05
Tras un patrón de demasiado tiempo porque he estado muy ocupado con muchas cosas a la vez, algunas que vienen al cuento y de las que voy a ir hablando poco a poco de nuevo en el blog, ya estoy de vuelta.
Y vuelvo con el trabajo estrella desde que empecé a no estar por aquí: Mi mesa de La Ciudad Bajo la Montaña.
Como ya sabéis el proyecto estaba empezado, hace mucho mucho tiempo, concretamente desde agosto de 2015, y no ha llovido nada desde entonces... bueno, por aquí no mucho, pero es porque llueve poco, jeje.
En fin, al grano. Más o menos por noviembre decidí que para las Hispania iba a llevarme mi mesa acabada, pero era una idea simplemente, así que tampoco es que hiciera mucho, simplemente la trasladé a mi sótano para tenerla más cerca. Luego, en fin de año, comencé con unos cuantos amigos de La Guerra del Anillo a darle forma a nuestra participación en las Hispania, y decidí involucrarme de lleno en ello, en organización del torneo, como todos los años, y hacer algo más grande: exposición y partidas de iniciación, y para ello me comprometí a llevar dos mesas, la que todos conocéis ya y ésta de La Ciudad Bajo la Montaña, para lo cual tenía que acabarla, era una forma de obligarme a ello.
Hasta mediados de enero realmente apenas si toqué algo, y cuando he estado realmente atareado con ella con el pintado y demás ha sido ya en febrero, y aunque no está acabada como yo quiero, le falta aún mucho trabajo de detalles, sí estaba para la fecha con el acabado suficiente como para ser un buen trabajo, bueno a secas, pero bastante espectacular.
After a pattern of too much time because I've been very busy with many things at once, some that come to the story and which I will be talking about little by little again in the blog, I'm back.
And I'm back with the star job since I started not to be here: My table of The City Under the Mountain.
As you know the project was started, a long time ago, specifically since August 2015, and nothing has rained since then ... well, not much here, but it is because it rains little, hehe.
In short, to the point. More or less by November I decided that for Hispania I was going to take my finished table, but it was just an idea, so it is not that I did much, I simply moved it to my basement to have it closer. Then, at the end of the year, I started with a few friends from The War of the Ring to shape our participation in Hispania, and I decided to fully engage in it, in tournament organization, like every year, and do something bigger. : exhibition and initiation games, and for that I committed myself to bring two tables, which you all know already and this one from The City Under the Mountain, for which I had to finish it, it was a way of forcing myself to it.
Until mid-January I really barely touched anything, and when I've been really busy with it with the painting and so on it's been in February, and although it's not finished as I want, it still needs a lot of detail work, it was for the date with enough finish to be a good job, good to dry, but quite spectacular.
Empecemos por el principio de esta última fase. La mesa cuando volví a retomarla tras mucho tiempo estaba así, con sus cuatro módulos perfectamente encajares, pero sin color, solo la piedra pintada, y claro, de pasarelas nada de nada.
Let's start with the beginning of this last phase. The table when I went back to it after a long time was like this, with its four modules perfectly fit, but without color, only the painted stone, and of course, of walkways nothing at all.
Y lo primero fue ir colocando las pasarelas de forma que todo encajase bien, incluso cambiando la posición de los cuatro módulos, ya que os recuerdo que la mesa estaba pensada y repensada para poder jugar con hasta tres disposiciones diferentes delos cuatro módulos, haciéndola más polivalente. Fui primero colocando las pasarelas para ver cómo quedaban, y luego decidí ir pegándolas directamente con silicona caliente. Y luego hubo que ir añadiendo infinidad de palitos de madera comprados en un chino, palitos que antes de colocar había que pasar por el cúter para quitarles la redondez, que me parecía demasiado artificial...
And the first thing was to go placing the catwalks so that everything fit well, even changing the position of the four modules, as I remind you that the table was designed and rethought to be able to play with up to three different arrangements of the four modules, making it more versatile . I went first placing the catwalks to see how they were, and then I decided to stick them directly with hot silicone. And then you had to add countless wooden sticks bought in a Chinese, sticks that before placing had to go through the cutter to remove the roundness, which seemed too artificial ...
Una vez fijadas las pasarelas tocaba añadir arena en las uniones de los palitos con los plásticos y en la base, y luego pintar, pero antes quería darle fuerza a todo, para que no se fuera cayendo la arena, así que tras preguntar decidí dar un buen lavado con agua y cola, pero el resultado fue desastroso, ya que las pasarelas que tenía imprimadas en marrón quedaron bañadas por un manto blanquecino obra de la mezcla que hice, o la cola no era la adecuada, o no sé qué pasó, lo cierto es que hubo que volver a repintarlo todo...
Once the catwalks were fixed, it was necessary to add sand in the joints of the sticks with the plastics and in the base, and then paint, but first I wanted to give strength to everything, so that the sand did not fall out, so after asking I decided to give a good washing with water and glue, but the result was disastrous, since the catwalks that were primed in brown were bathed by a whitish blanket work of the mixture that I made, or the tail was not adequate, or I do not know what happened, what it's true that everything had to be repainted ...
Para el pintado ya definitivo decidí ir pintando cada madera con tonos diferentes de marrones, algún gris y algún verdecito, para dar variedad, y luego aplicarle un pincel seco con un beige, sin apretar mucho.
For the final painting I decided to paint each wood with different shades of browns, some gray and some green, to give variety, and then apply a dry brush with a beige, without tightening a lot.
Y tras eso me llegó la iluminación en forma de idea, que luego se ha mostrado ser una gran idea: Colocar cuerdas en las pasarelas. En un principio pensé en ponerlas a modo de pasamanos, para que dieran más seguridad a las pasarelas, pero luego estuve viendo fotos de la Ciudad Bajo la Montaña, de la película, y decidí meter cuerdas por todos sitios, creo que fue un acierto hacerlo.
And after that I got the lighting in the form of an idea, which then has been shown to be a great idea: Place ropes on the catwalks. At first I thought of putting them as a handrail, to give more security to the catwalks, but then I was seeing photos of the City Under the Mountain, the movie, and I decided to put strings everywhere, I think it was a wise move to do it .
Y en el proceso, hasta descubrí que se podría jugar con los módulos alineados... y no quedaba nada mal, con un par de añadidos daba el pego.
And in the process, I even discovered that you could play with the modules aligned ... and there was nothing wrong, with a couple of additions to the hit.
Mi gran nuevo temor con la mesa era el transporte, tenía que llevarla a Alhaurín de la Torre desde casa, unos 200km, y aunque el coche es amplio (sin asientos traseros, claro), la cosa no iba a ser nada fácil. Al final opté por colocar los módulos en vertical en vez de en horizontal como había pensado en un principio, y... resultó una buena idea, la mesa llegó a Málaga sin desperfectos.
My great new fear with the table was transportation, I had to take it to Alhaurin de la Torre from home, about 200km, and although the car is wide (without rear seats, of course), it was not going to be easy. In the end I chose to place the modules vertically instead of horizontally as I had originally thought, and ... it turned out to be a good idea, the table arrived in Malaga undamaged.
Una vez en las Hispania la monté y la verdad es que estoy muy satisfecho con la acogida y la expectación que levantó. Exposición, Partidas de Compañías de Batalla, demos... muy contento.

Y bueno, tan contento he quedado que creo que voy a empezar otra mesa, no sé si será una Moria revolucionaria, o algo más sencillo, más jugable para todos los ejércitos...
