TRABAJANDO EN LA CASA DE BREE

 WORKING IN THE BREE HOUSE

Después de que me llegase la cortadora de poliestireno el concepto que tenía pensado para hacer la casa de Bree cambió por completo, vi un desperdicio hacer el esqueleto de la casa con los trozos de poliestireno, y es que ahora tengo una máquina con la que sacar mucho jugo a ese material, así que me dispuse a hacerlo de otra forma, tenía poco tiempo (hablo de hace un par de semanas cuando más), pero quería acabar la casa en plazo (dentro de dos días, el 30 de abril), así que me puse rápidamente manos a la obra.

Lo primero fue hacer los cuatro bloques con cartón, para luego recubrirlos con ladrillitos que iba a cortar con la cortadora, jeje. Y así comenzó el trabajo.

Una vez hechos los cubos rectangulares con cartón y asegurados provisionalmente con cinta de pintor llegó el momento de darle uso a mi nueva maquinita, y comencé a cortar tiras de distintos grosores, luego les di textura con una bola de papel aluminio (luego he cambiado a una roca, es mejor, no se va perdiendo el detalle cuando vas apretando, lo recomiendo), y después cortar en tiras más finas y finalmente en piezas rectangulares.

After the thermocut for polystyrene arrived, the concept I had in mind to make Bree's house changed completely, I saw a waste of making the skeleton of the house with pieces of polystyrene, and now I have a machine with which to remove a lot of juice to that material, so I decided to do it in another way, I had little time (I'm talking about a couple of weeks ago at the most), but I wanted to finish the house on time (within two days, April 30), So I quickly got to work.  

The first thing was to make the four blocks with cardboard, and then cover them with little bricks that I was going to cut with the cutter, hehe. And so the work began.  

Once the rectangular cubes were made with cardboard and provisionally secured with painter's tape, it was time to put my new machine to use, and I began to cut strips of different thicknesses, then I textured them with a ball of aluminum foil (later I switched to a rock, it's better, the detail doesn't get lost when you press, I recommend it), and then cut into finer strips and finally into rectangular pieces.

 

Poco a poco fui cubriendo todas las superficies, haciendo pequeñas modificaciones en la idea original según iban sucendiendo cosas, pero intentando ceñirme a esa idea primigenia. Añadí largueros de madera como había pintado en el boceto, y los pegué para crear una zona de madera que saliese del grueso de la torre, o zona más alta.

Little by little I covered all the surfaces, making small modifications to the original idea as things happened, but trying to stick to that original idea. I added wooden stringers as I had painted on the sketch, and glued them together to create an area of wood that came out of the bulk of the tower, or higher area.

 

Una vez cubiertas las paredes llegó el momento de meterle mano a los tejados, al principio los había pensado rectos, pero el de la zona de la torre creo que subía demasiado y las casas que tomo como inspiración o referencia, las de Tabletop World, tienen algunas un quiebro en los tejados, así que dispuse uno en el de la torre, dejando los otros dos rectos, eran más bajos.

Once the walls were covered, it was time to work on the roofs, at first I had thought they were straight, but I think the one in the tower area went up too high and the houses that I take as inspiration or reference, the ones in Tabletop World, have some have a twist on the roofs, so I arranged one on the tower, leaving the other two straight, they were lower. 

 

Y llegó el momento de volver a decidir, esta vez había que solucionar el problema de las tejas, ¿cómo hacerlas?. Primero pensé en el cartón, pero pensé que quedaría cutre, y claro, teniendo la nueva maquinita... no había duda, serían de poliestireno. Hice unas tiras de prueba y me gustó cómo quedaron, pero el acabado... ¿cómo le daba textura?... si no le daba textura serían como de cerámica, las tejas de toda la vida de por aquí, pero me gustaban las de Tabletop World, que eran como de maderas, así que finalmente decidí rayarlas y conseguí tras un par de intentos un sistema que me satisfizo por completo, con una simple rueda dentada de plástico y haciendo un ángulo para que las lineas saliesen más cercanas, el resultado parecía un veteado de madera, perfecto.

Y empecé a hacer tejas de forma industrial, distintos tamaños, grosores y longitudes para ir combinando, algo muy laborioso pero que creo que le da un plus de calidad al trabajo. Más aún cuando con unas pinzas iba rompiendo uno de los bordes de cada teja de una en una...

And the time came to decide again, this time we had to solve the problem of the tiles, how to make them? First I thought about cardboard, but I thought it would be shabby, and of course, having the new little machine... there was no doubt, they would be made of polystyrene. I made some test strips and I liked how they turned out, but the finish... how did it give it texture?... if it didn't give it texture they would be like ceramic, the usual tiles around here, but I liked the from Tabletop World, which were like wood, so I finally decided to scratch them and after a couple of tries I got a system that completely satisfied me, with a simple plastic sprocket and making an angle so that the lines come out closer, the The result looked like wood grain, perfect. 

And I began to make tiles industrially, different sizes, thicknesses and lengths to combine, something very laborious but which I think gives a plus of quality to the work. Even more so when with a pair of tweezers he was breaking one of the edges of each tile one by one...

 

Tras unas cuantas tardes haciendo y colocando tejas por fin la cosa empezaba a ver el final, ya quedaba menos... y también menos días.

After a few afternoons making and placing tiles, things were finally beginning to come to an end, there were fewer days left... and also fewer days.

Y ayer por fin acabé con los tejados, me gusta el acabado. Hoy he dado una capa a todo de agua con cola para darle dureza, aún está secando, ahora iré a la azotea a ver si está ya listo.

El plan es ponerme ahora con las puertas y ventanas y solucionar un par de cosas que no me gustan, y mañana por la mañana imprimar y empezar a pintar, me queda esta tarde, el sábado y el domingo para acabarla a tiempo para El Desafío Escenografía de www.laguerradelanillo.com ... espero que si.

And yesterday I finally finished with the roofs, I like the finish. Today I have given a layer of water with glue to give it hardness, it is still drying, now I will go to the roof to see if it is ready.  

The plan is to start now with the doors and windows and solve a couple of things that I don't like, and tomorrow morning prime and start painting, I have this afternoon, Saturday and Sunday to finish it in time for El Desafío Escenografía from www.laguerradelanillo.com ... I hope so.
